Liverpool boss Arne Slots is backing struggling striker Darwin Nunez as he struggles to find goal-scoring form.

The forward missed a number of good chances in the Champions League win at Girona in midweek and has scored just three goals in 19 appearances this season.
However, Slot believes Nunez will still contribute to his team.
“For me, he made an impact,” Slot said.
“If you look at the goals alone, he hasn’t scored as many as he would like or we would like as a No.9 who has to score goals. But he has an impact by working hard and not just not giving the other side a chance. But if we lose the ball he’s aggressive to try and get us the ball back.”
“He’s part of a team that’s scored goals and won a lot of games. But of course as a No. 9 you want to score goals and that’s what he wants as well.”
“I don’t judge Mo (Salah) just by the goals he scores and I don’t judge Darwin just by the goals he scores. I also judge them on their work ethic and what they do for the team. So that’s been good so far.”
“Maybe it’s because the fans support him so much that he wants to score more goals for himself and the fans.”
“It’s the life of a No. 9,” Slot added. “Sometimes Register ufabet you score, sometimes you don’t. But what you should always have is the work ethic. That’s what he’s had beyond those two games.”
“The first game against Las Palmas (a friendly) and the last half hour against Girona were not up to the standard he should have and that played a big part in his disappointment after missing a few chances.”
